Mastodon will be releasing their sixth studio album Once More Round the Sun sometime in 2014, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait long to see your metal gods. Mastodon embarks on a massive North American tour for April and May, the fourth stop happens to be at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Expect to hear some new tracks from the upcoming album as well as tracks from one of our album’s of the year in 2011, The Hunter. Recently the band spoke with Paste about the new album, offering some insight into where it leaves off from their critically acclaimed 2011 release:
“A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off,” said bassist and vocalist Troy Hunter “And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas. I’ve had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it’s solid. It’s a large slab of granite. I’m once again completely proud of these guys.”
More solid slabs of granite from Mastodon! Get hit over the head with some of that falling stone on Friday, May 2nd at Club Nokia. We’ll provide the tickets, you provide the headbanging.
