Mastadon has earned every bit of mainstream success they have received as one of the few metal bands to cross over and appeal to rest of the music world. These rockers from Atlanta, Georgia have used 6 studio albums and a massive tour calendar to launch themselves to the top of the metal universe. Their precise instrumentation and clean vocals set them apart in their genre. Mastodon achieved major American commercial success with its 2011 album The Hunter, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, and was one of RB’s top albums of 2011. Their newest release Once More ‘Round the Sun debuted at No.6 after selling 34,000 copies in the first week of release. Also, check out their first single “Motherload” below, which is described as a parody of early ’90s heavy metal videos, or just a bunch of half-naked girls twerking to their song.
