The Perverted Hymns are a NYC based punk band that have been recording out in LA. The label “Punk” doesn’t quite cover their sound: they are 3-chord toting, message sending, politically motivated, outspoken, and best of all… brand spanking new. Check out a stream of 3 songs from their debut album Book One: Caught in the Fix after the jump and let us know what you think.
Frontman W.H. Willy gives you his personal take on both his music and his message:
“The Perverted Hymns are more Fugazi than Dave Matthews. We’re not high. We are aware. People want to turn a blind eye to politics, mass communication crimes, and create a submissive stoner society… not happening here. The Perverted Hymns can’t sit idly by, we want to get involved: “Its a Signal… don’t think we should be patient”.
I was taught to be honest, loving and respectful… money was rarely mentioned. Art was mentioned. Music was played… innocent days. I’m not against the wealthy at all, many are amazing people. I work to make a good honest living but with my morals intact. I would never steal a dime from anyone. I am against the crap people try and get away with chasing their caviar dreams.
We are an art band that rocks with Teeth and Tenderness. Indie bands tend to be all art and tenderness,we will bite you back. We are T&T.”
