In the wake of their double-headlining marathon shows at The Troubadour earlier this month, British pop-rocker The Kooks have unveiled the music video for their new single “Down,” directed by Davis Silis. This track definitely jumped out live as something supremely different from the rest of the band’s catalog. Its fast paced rhythm and short staccato vocals show a heavy R&B influence, so it makes sense that the song was co-written by a hip-hop writer/producer Inflo. The band has a lot of swagger onstage, and that confidence spills over into this video and gives it life. After a series of “downer” releases, it looks like The Kooks are back to having fun — both onstage and on camera.
“Down” was recorded in London and LA, and will be released digitally on April 1, with a Remix EP to be released on April 22.
