Los Angeles powerhouse The Gaslamp Killer has announced a world tour in support of his sophomore album, Instrumentalepathy, with the release of a special short film by director Marielle Tepper. The tour starts July 13th in London and continues across Europe, South America, and parts of the US before returning to Los Angeles for a special anniversary performance. The short film, creatively titled SINS: THE INSTRUMENTALEPATHY ALBUM FILM, explores the Seven Deadly Sins by taking on the acts, rather the thoughts that lead to sinning.
As film director Marielle Tepper points out, “Sins are not only a part of life; they are, as often as not, a lot of fun.”
Gaslamp Killer uses sampler, turntables, kebyoards and drums to create experimental hip hop with heavy influence from psychedelia and global music. He founded the influential weekly showcase Low End Theory in Los Angeles in 2006 after escaping the cultural dead zone that is San Diego. In 2015 GLK staged a series of transcendent performances as the Gaslamp Killer Experience, a 15 piece ensemble featuring Kamasi Washington, Amir Yaghmai, Gene Coyne, and a whole other mess of Los Angeles talent. You may also recognize Gaslamp Killer’s track “Nissim” from Grand Theft Auto V.

His latest album, Instrumentalepathy, was released last fall and features the likes of Gonjasufi, Miguel Atwood Ferguson, Niki Randa, Kid Moxie, Mophono, Amir Yaghmai and The Heliocentrics, in a cosmic journey that pushes the boundaries of modern electronic music.
