Live Review: The Darkness and Foxy Shazam @ HOB Sunset 2/19

I believe in a thing called The Darkness! Welcome back. The English rockers brought their guitar wailing and falsetto to a very sold out crowd at the House of Blues on Sunset last night (Sunday). After a 5 year hiatus Justin Hawkins reunited with his brother Dan Hawkins and the rest of the original band members (Frankie Poullain (bass) and Ed Graham (drums)) and put on a show almost too big for the HOB. Several wardrobe changes, 1 trip around the main floor on a roadie’s shoulders, a new mustached look, and 2 hours full of old hits and new material left a breathless crowd spilling out onto Sunset Blvd. on a Sunday night in Hollywood. Show Alert: Uh Huh Her @ House of Blues Sunset 11/01 & Slim’s 11/02

Indie-electropop duo Uh Huh Her is headlining the Keep A Breast tour, along with opening act Jarrod Gorbel. Uh Huh Her, promoting their sophomore studio album Nocturnes, is touring in collaboration with the Keep A Breast Foundation to promote fighting breast cancer through prevention. The tour, organized in coordination with House of Blues Entertainment, hits the House of Blues in Hollywood on November 1st, and Slim’s in San Francisco on November 2nd. Weekend Preview: Dropkick Murphys @ The Palladium, 10/15

Dropkick is still touring America! Well, for three more days at least. The punk-rockers from Boston have been on the road all year promoting their seventh full-length studio album Going Out in Style, which was released by Born and Bred Records on March 11th. The band is making a quick stop in Cali this weekend to build up some hype before heading Down Under, and they’re hitting the Palladium in Hollywood this Saturday night to accomplish just that. So if you’re in the mood on Saturday night to throw a few back and show off your Celtic pride, head down to Sunset for a high-octane slobberknocker. Live Review: Prince @ House of Blues 5/25

Not every artist can take over the entertainment capital of the world- not every artist is Prince.  It’s been over a month now since Prince has set up shop in Los Angeles for a series of spectacular concerts at the Forum and two funk inspired sold out shows at the Troubadour.  But the spontaneous three show event on Wednesday at the House of Blues on Sunset might have been Prince’s best act yet in his takeover of Los Angeles.
