Coachella Divide

The minds behind the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival have just announced that Coachella 2012 will be held over two weekends.

The Coachella promoters cited an inundation of negative feedback from upset fans that were surprised by how quickly tickets to this year’s festival sold out. A large number of these festival goers were either unable to attend the festival or had to go into the online ticket scalping arena where prices often jumped 100-200% in price, making the entire process uncertain, prohibitively expensive, and completely frustrating. Coachella 2011: 3 days of sunshine in review

After a 364 day countdown it was finally time for Coachella 2011! The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is a Southern California tradition, where droves of music lovers drive out to the Polo Grounds in Indio, California for 3 days of music, dancing, partying and lots of sunshine!

This year wristbands sold out after only 3 weeks, a shock to many annual Coachellites who could purchase tickets online for last year’s festival up to 2 weeks before the event. (more…)

Coachella line-up announced. Big acts, few surprises.

The Coachella line-up was officially released late last night.  Waiting for the announcement has become over the years part of the tradition and buzz of Coachella itself.  Well, it’s finally here and we don’t have to guess our spread rumors about the bands playing this year.  The line-up is heavy at the top with Kings of Leon, Kanye West and Arcade Fire all being huge touring acts.  From there we are greeted with a mix of local bands, Coachella regulars and Indie projects.  We would have liked to see one of those huge surprise headliners (Paul McCartney, Ozzy with Slash, Red Hot Chili Peppers- where are you guys?) and we still might with a late addition, but it doesn’t look too good for now.  (more…)
