Brody Dalle’s solo album Diploid Love comes out next week, but you can hear it now streaming thank to The Guardian and NPR. The front woman to the late 90s conceived punk band The Distillers is rock n’ roll royalty in many circles. She’s married to Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and has two kids in this growing rockstar family. While Brody might be married to one of the coolest dudes in rock n’ roll, she stands alone as an artist on her own merits. The solo album, Diploid Love, comes after Brody’s last project band and album under the name Spinerrette. We loved this band that featured Tony Bevilacqua (The Distillers), Jack Irons (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eleven, Pearl Jam) and Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Eleven). The band released their only album, the self-titled Spinerette in 2009 and we gave it high praise on Rabbits Black. Brody goes solo on Diploid Love and so far it’s a worthy record to add to her career of great LPs. Take a listen below and check back here for shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco in May, including a full review of the album and live shows.
You can grab Diploid Love anywhere you get music digitally next week. The CD and record will be out in May.
