No plans for Thursday night? Need something fun to kick off your weekend? Rabbits Black has you covered! The Hoot Hoots will be bringing their brand of fuzzy power pop to San Francisco at Thee Parkside TONIGHT in support of their new album, Appetite for Distraction, which is available now. Supporting The Hoot Hoots tonight are Bay Area locals and favorites Sugar Candy Mountain, Owl Paws, and Upstairs Downstairs.
Hailing from Seattle, Washington, The Hoot Hoots are Adam Prairie, Chris Prairie, Geoff Brown, and Christina Ellis. The quartet sports a highly imaginative and upbeat sound, sliding comfortable into the world of twee-pop. Self described as “vintage Flaming Lips with a splash of 8-bit NES and a dash of The Unicorns,” their latest album Appetite for Distraction powers through singsong choruses and lyricism that will bring back your favorite childhood memories.
If you like the artistic and flashy sound of Animal Collective, but are looking for something a bit more accessible, check out The Hoot Hoots. They employ similar intricate and unconventional song structures as Animal Collective, but inject it with just the right amount of sugary pop. Appetite for Distraction will give you the warm and fuzzies, and the group will no doubt bring the good vibes to the stage.
