Since 2003 with their self-titled debut album, The Black Lips have been a band that has shown no signs of losing any energy or gusto, which is impressive for a band that has been around for almost a century. This is why I am very excited to say that they are coming to the great and powerful OC to play a show at the reinvigorated Observatory in Santa Ana!
It’s very rare for Orange County to get a band of this caliber to play down here but me like many fellow OC dwellers appreciate it greatly because that means we don’t have to take that damn 5fwy to LA.
The Black Lips are playing in support of their 2011 album “Arabia Mountain,” which was a much more cleaner sounding record than their five previous ones but still held onto their raw and fast paced sound which all of their fans love. Oh, did I not mention that King Tuff is one of the openers, along with Pangea and a few DJs from local record label Burger Records? This is going to be a night of great punk-rock music so now it’s your turn LA to take that shitty drive down the 5fwy and see how the real OC does it!
