Hermosa Beach, California- The boys (and girl!) are back at it again! “Strictly Poultry”, the South Bay’s premier brass funk band, is performing this Thursday at Suzy’s Bar and Grill in Hermosa Beach. The band, comprised of lifelong friends whose passion for music and performance have kept them close for decades, has been hard at work putting together a pulse-pounding show that’s sure to get your head-bobbing and your body moving.
“We’re ready to go,” says Brandon Anthony, the band’s drummer and senior Poultry-Man. “There’s an excitement in the group every time we play. This group’s ready to jam!”
“Strictly Poultry” has been jamming throughout the South Bay the last several months and their unique blend of funk, hip-hop, jazz, reggae and just about anything else has gathered them quite a following.. “What makes us unique is our instrumentation,” says David Law, tenor saxophonist and Poultry Extraordinaire. “We have drums and bass and keys, of course, but we also have saxes, trumpets, and even a bass clarinet! That expands our song list quite a bit.”
Originally fellow marching band members in high school, each member took their own path after graduation and they each bring something new and unique to the group. “We’ve been around the world,” says Aaron Little, trumpet player, vocalist, and lead Poultry Master. “That’s why our sound is so unique. It reflects all those different paths.”
“Come see Strictly Poultry bring down the house!” – David Law
