Social Distortion will bring in the new year with an intimate performance at the Fox Theater in Pomona
(Guest article by Derek Obregon)
Well, we hope everybody is enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, but just like Corporate America keeps telling us (ahem, Black Friday), it’s well past time to start thinking about Christmas and your plans to ring in the New Year. Now, the New Year can be celebrated in so many ways, but why not make it extremely memorable this year? That’s right, OC legend and Rabbits Black favorite Social Distortion is playing on December 31st at the intimate Fox Theater in Pomona. Tickets are on sale now!
They have been cranking out the hits since the early ’80s and the band has no plans of stopping any time soon. I dare you to name one person that doesn’t like at least one song from Social D. You can’t because they invented a new style of playing. They combine rockabilly with country storytelling and bluesy riffs to create music that elevates them to a genre that is uniquely their own.
The band has influenced everyone from Green Day to Rise Against and even Pearl Jam, and rightly so. With seven studio albums and countless hits like “Ball of Chain” and “Story of my Life,” you’re guaranteed to hear at least one song you’ll like.
You could just go hang out with your same old friends at a house party or meet some new friends at the local watering hole, but wouldn’t it be more fun to make some cool new friends at a show? These musicians are innovators and you owe it to yourself to see them at least once in your life.
