Sometimes a simple show can take on the feeling of a musical event. Mastodon has joined forced with The Dillinger Escape Plan and Red Fang to offer metal-heads and heavy music fans an event set to shred collective faces off. Rarely do three bands of the caliber get together for a tour, so don’t take this opportunity lightly to see this three headed monster in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Mastodon are touring in support of their latest album The Hunter. The album received high acclaim from Rabbits Black a few weeks ago. The Hunter combines the heavy sound Mastodon are known for, with a more accessible song structure that will please old fans and attract new fans. There is no denying that Mastodon have claimed the mountain to metal superstardom. They’ve been on Letterman and invited to music festivals worldwide- Mastodon is here to stay. You can check out their latest single “Curl Of The Burl” right here:
The Dillinger Escape Plan continue to be a force in metal. Their last album Option Paralysis was released in March, 2010 and will be two years old before you know it. The great thing about Dillinger is that they don’t need a new album to rally around, they have the manic energy and unforgettable live performance aspect that makes them relevant at all times. While some will point to Mastodon as the headliner, this bill could easily be a dual headlining marquee. Here is “Parasitic Twins” from their last album:
To call Red Fang the opening act is a gross understatement. In support of their 2011 release Murder The Mountains, Red Fang will be opening the mayhem in LA and San Francisco. A stew of Motorhead, Kyuss and Saint Vitus have seemingly given birth to the sound of Portland’s Red Fang. With standout tracks like “Wires” and “Dirt Wizard” from the new album, this opening act will lay a heavy dose of west coast metal on you.
Tickets for the show are still available, and Mastodon was offering a pretty sweet deal for ticket goers a few weeks ago. You can catch all three bands in San Francisco and Los Angeles in early November. Ticket are available here:
