There is an innate discrepancy between the powers of Rock and Roll and the mystical subculture of Magic the Gathering. Lets face it, the stereotype is that one gets the girls and the other dreams about being a magical Wizard with 10th level spell casting to woo doe eyed nymph Elves. However, sometimes these worlds cross over. Kithkin are a seld-described Cascadian youth tribe out to spread the hidden knowledge of the forests. These Seattle University grads will bring their “treepunk” sound to The Mint in LA on April 17, where you can see for yourself if you can resist their spells
Kithkin will be joined at The Mint by bands Green Light Theory, Mirror By The Sun, Reviver, and Filmspeed. You can purchase tickets here.
“Through its rituals and performances, Kithkin hopes to confront crowds about the impending ‘end of things’ through witchee rhythms and chaotic sorcery.”
Kithkin’s debut album, “Rituals, Trances & Ecstasies For Humans in Face of The Collapse” will be released May 20, 2014 on Pesanta Urfolk.
The band described the origin of their name in an interview with MTVU: Kithkin are hobbit-like creatures from the popular Wizards of the Coast card game, Magic: The Gathering. In MTG lore, Kithkin live in Amrou Haven, a picturesque utopia, until The Apocalypse destroys their home and renders it into barren salt plains. Kithkin then live amongst the dust, toiling to restore their homeland to its former glory.
Honestly, this whole show alert is so weird, let’s just break into some baseball news and pictures of our buddy Chris LeRoux’s girlfriend…
