JD McPherson is single handedly trying to rejuvenate the rock, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly music of the 1950’s. The native Oklahoman will traverse the country in support of his latest album Let the Good Times Roll, and you can’t really start off any more west than the Santa Monica Pier!
He will be performing this Thursday July 30 as part of the weekly Twilight Concert series that has become a summer staple in Los Angeles. Thousands of people descend on the famous Santa Monica pier every Thursday from 7-10pm during the summer months and take over the beach just south of the pier. It is a sight to see as the entire beach is covered with a patchwork of blankets where people gather to picnic with their friends and listen to the music as speakers project the sound all the way to the water. Families can also bring their children to enjoy the sunset, fun music, and a lively environment.
McPherson is a musician that has been circled as one of the highlights of 2015’s Twilight Series since the lineup was announced. His catchy rockabilly tunes will have the butts moving all over the beach. Take a listen to the songs below and make sure to get there early to reserve a fun spot for your crew.
