If you love to see producers that actually deejay their live sets as opposed to simply hitting the play button and letting the computer take over, then you definitely won’t want to miss LA’s “King of House” music, Wolfgang Gartner, ripping it up at the Fox Theater in Oakland this Saturday (September 28th), along with co-headliner Tommy Trash. Together, the duo are biting, tearing, and clawing their way from west to east, and then back again on their Halloween-themed “Hounds of Hell” Tour, which will be covering 24 cities across North America in just over a month. And to mark the diabolical occasion, they have even released a collaboration track with the same title, which you can check out and purchase on Beatport (http://www.beatport.com/track/hounds-of-hell-original-mix/4737088). It’s a perfectly suited anthem for the tour, replete with a synth backing that actually sounds like dogs yelping over a bone – from a HUMAN CORPSE I can only assume.
Seriously though, if there’s one thing you can expect from this tour, is that you simply can’t know what to expect. No two performances will be the same. Though I have yet to see Tommy Trash live (which, to embrace the theme, I am “foaming at the mouth” for), I can attest to the fact that Wolfgang Gartner keeps it fresh. In fact, during most shows he will only sprinkle in clips of his full-length songs – which, in case you didn’t know, includes co-produced tracks with the likes of Deadmau5 and Skrillex – allowing you to hum along for just a few brief moments before something completely new is dropped. Honestly, it’s exactly how house music should be done.
Wolfgang and Tommy will be joined by supporting acts Bass Kleph and Charlie Darker, who were hand selected to whip the crowd into a frenzy before the hounds take the stage. All I can say is that it is a damn good thing the moon won’t be anywhere near full. Trust me, I looked…for your safety of course.
Tickets for Saturday’s show are available for purchase now through the Fox Theater website (http://www.thefoxoakland.com/ ), or for other stops, at www.houndsofhelltour.com.
Hope to see you there!
