We’ve been playing CHAPPO’s debut release Moonwater all weekend. Set to be revealed to the world on May 15th, the album combines the indie pop magic of today’s radio stalwarts but with a sense of honesty that makes you actually care about the tunes. Core creative influences Alex Chappo and Chris Olson met in New York City, but brought their musical experiences from Baton Rouge (Alex) and Seattle (Chris) to the sound of CHAPPO. Take a listen to a few select tracks from their debut album, and get tickets to the Moonwater album release show at the Bootleg Bar on May 18th in Los Angeles.
With a Bonnaroo date on the horizon, and a supporting slot with Of Monteal, CHAPPO are ready to bring their sound to ears all over the United States. What CHAPPO does so well is taking the talents of its two creative influences and creating a cohesive sound. Alex Chappo’s lyrical style can create that southern flavor with a touch of attitude, while Chris Olson can build the structure of a sing-a-long tune. CHAPPO is completed by Dave Feddock providing the guitar backbone to the tracks and Zac Colwell on drums. It all comes together quite nicely. The band doesn’t come off as a “New York band”- they actually fit in quite well with the Bonnaroo scene, and are definitely a band to have on your list to see while out there. There’s a track called “Native Savage” that you absolutely have to hear, but that will have to wait until our full album review in a few weeks. For now, grab your tickets to see CHAPPO at the Bootleg Bar in Los Angeles on May 18th.
CHAPPO @ Bootleg Bar, May 18th – Los Angeles, Album Release Show $10

Check out the two singles from Moonwater below. These are two of the most radio-friendly tracks, but trust us when we say there’s a lot more on Moonwater that is going to catch your ear in different ways.
