That smoky and underground club show we were wishing for on the west coast with A Place To Bury Strangers is happening, and that’s good news for all of you who attended their last show with The Joy Formidable. The sound quality might not have been the best at Club Mayan, but in a proper setting like the Echoplex, expect the noise rock of A Place To Bury Strangers to completely overwhelm you. Ya, this is what we wanted! Ticket info after the jump and some tunes for your day.
A Place To Bury Strangers (APTBS) were meant for the small, smoky, dingy and dirty clubs of America. Their sound vibrates from wall to wall, creating a sonic distortion in the mind of the listener. We reviewed their opening slot with The Joy Formidable last month, and while the guys in APTBS were up for the task, the sound system wasn’t. This time around, they are paired with a much more complimentary venue and band in the post-rockers This Will Destroy You. Their slow building instrumentals and crashing conclusions is a much better fit than the happy-go-lucky shoe-gazing of The Joy Formidable. The more I think about it, what a fucking weird pairing that was! Regardless, APTBS will be in the perfect setting this June to unleash their psychedelic noise rock on Los Angeles. Be there for only $13.
