This Saturday in Los Angeles the stars and planets align to create a massive night of EDM music sprawling across the southland. While the city of Angels is no stranger to hosting top DJs, rarely does one night host such a complete lineup of some of world’s best. Electronic heavyweights Alesso, Wolfgang Gartner, and Gareth Emery will all be performing at different venues, giving us all an epic night of dance music (and exercise) leading into the food-centric Thanksgiving holiday. The city will be alive and dancing this weekend, the only tough part will be deciding where you want to feel the breakdown! Choose wisely my friends:
Alesso @ The Shrine Auditorium 11/22
(RB Contributor Melissa Gasia)
Alessandro Lindblad also known as Alesso is coming to tear the roof up in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium tomorrow for his sold out show. In his rapid ascent to the top tier of the world DJ rankings (#15 in the latest DJ Mag top-100) the 23-year-old Swedish electronic dance producer and Def Jam recording artist has shown the ability dominate the charts with one massive beat drop and club anthem after another.
Just 5 years ago, he was a self-taught bedroom DJ and producer remixing and editing his own versions of other performer’s songs. It all changed when his talents were discovered by Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia. In 2012, Ingrosso & Alesso found themselves on the No.1 spot for the Billboard Dance chart after they collaborated with One Republic’s Ryan Tedder for the song “Calling (Lose My Mind)” that hit more than 15 million YouTube views. Alesso quickly transformed into one of the most well-known household names in the EDM industry. In 2013, Alesso created another remix with Tedder “If I Lose Myself” which hit more than 31 million Youtube views and was nominated for a Grammy award under the category of Best Remixed Recording, non-classical. Alesso then teamed up with another chart-topping DJs, Calvin Harris, to produce the song “Under Control” which became Alesso’s first #1 single and has received over 88 million YouTube views.
Every year just keeps getting better for Alesso. This year, he ranked No.15 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list from his first entry as No.70 back in 2011. He’s done big EDM festivals including the world’s largest electronic music festival, Electronic Daisy Carnival (EDC). One of his latest in-demand songs “Heroes (We could be)” featuring Tove Lo has already reached his audience since many can sing along to its lyrics during his shows. “Heroes” and “Tear the Roof Up” will be featured on his debut studio album that will be out in 2015. Check it out! Alesso is barely starting. He’s hitting it fast so we better watch out for more new unique creations from the artist.
Wolfgang Gartner @ Avalon 11/22
(RB Contributor Nazy Ehsani)
The time is almost here. House Legend and Grammy Award Nominee Wolfgang Gartner will be electrifying the dance floor for one night only spinning his finest this Saturday, November 22 at Avalon Hollywood, with support from Brazzabelle and Popeska. Get ready to dance!
The internationally acclaimed DJ has been at the forefront of the electro-house movement for years. Gartner just released his latest track, the upbeat trance-infused vocal party track “Unholy” featuring the gritty soulful vocals of Bobby Saints, on his record label Kindergarten. Gartner has had an astonishing total of eight of songs reach #1spot on the Beatport Top-10 Chart. His crowd-pleasing single “Wolfgang’s 5th Symphony”, an opulent groovy remix of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, became the highest selling song on Beatport.com in 2009. Best known for his explosive remix of Andy Caldwell’s “Funk Nasty”, Gartner received a Grammy nomination in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical Category in 2010. He was also nominated for four International Dance Music Awards in January 2011, proving that he can mix the best of the best electro and indie dance rock.
Impressively, Gartner has worked alongside some of the grandest names in the industry. For his first album Weekend in America, renowned artists such as Will.I.Am, Eve, and Omarion lent their vocals for cameos. Again, proving that he can light a raging fire on the dance floor, the album peaked at #2 in iTunes’ dance chart and #1 in Beatport’s album chart. Gartner also collaborated with Tiesto and Luciana on the radio hit “We Own the Night”.
Concluding our point that Gartner can hypnotize the dance floor with his spellbinding beats, he was also nominated for four International Dance Music Awards in January 2011, including Best Electro/Tech House Track, Best Progressive Track, Best Breakthrough DJ and Best Breakthrough Artist. It’s safe to say that Gartner has officially broken through and captivated us. He’s on the short list for King of Electro-house.

Gareth Emery @ The Hollywood Palladium 11/22
(RB Editor Alex Pacheco)
On Saturday, trance/house guru Gareth Emery will be taking over the Palladium for a five hour set that will surely be a highlight of an undeniably stacked weekend here in LA. Gareth has been touring heavily to promote his recent acclaimed album, Drive (which was a summertime favorite of the Rabbits staff), and he has made several stops in California already. Nevertheless, Gareth makes sure to shake things up a little differently each time he takes control of the decks, so even if you’ve seen him in the past few months, you can still be rest assured to see something fresh and unforgettable at the Palladium.
DRIVE hit #1 on iTunes’ Dance Chart in both the U.S. and Canada, and #27 on the overall chart upon its release this spring. Inspired by “EMERY’s 3000-mile adventure across the Oklahoma/ Texas border on Old Route 66”, Emery blends house, trance, and electro into a complete movement of emotion driven dance music.
With such a long run time (5-hours!), you can also bet that Gareth be busting out as many inspirational tunes as possible. So toss up your heart hands and get ready for the feels to take over.
