Les Claypool and the boys are back! Primus recently announced a spring tour, featuring a 3D-enhanced live musical performance and two sets per evening. This tour is being promoted as a full-on psychedelic experience. Primus teamed with 3D Live from Burbank, CA to create original 3D content for the tour. Audience members will be given 3D glasses in order to fully experience a visual and audio performance like no other. The band broke its 11-year studio hiatus with the release of Green Naugahyde last September, and apparently they haven’t satiated that creative itch just yet (like that’s even possible with these guys. I mean, we’re talking about Les Claypool after all). Follow the jump for full tour dates and more info:
This revolutionary 21-date tour will feature Quad Surround Sound and a 3D backdrop to give the fans…well…an extra dimension! My mind just got blown. Not only are these shows designed to give audience members a fully integrated experience, but Les has promised that every show is going to be unique, depending on what the venue provides. That’s right Tool fans, every show is going to be one-of-a-kind.
Primus’ latest album, Green Naugahyde, was produced and engineered by Les Claypool in his personal studio, Rancho Relaxo, in Northern California, and features Claypool, long-time guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Jay Lane. Lane was in an early lineup of the band, and was also in Sausage, a 1994 reunion of the 1988 Primus lineup.
