Just eleven days to go until the first ever Life is Beautiful Festival in Downtown Las Vegas! Seriously, this lineup is not to be trifled with, and the price point is hard to argue with – $156 for two solid days of music, art and culture. As we continue with our LIB Primer series, here are a few more bands you should check out October 26th & 27th: Zedd, Passion Pit, and Empire of the Sun.
Zedd: Born Anton Zaslavski, this Russian DJ plays an irresistible brand of electro house. A classically trained musician, he’s young (born in 1989!) and he knows how to move a crowd. First making a name for himself by winning two Beatport remix contests at age 19, he’s since made chart topping remixes for the Lady Gaga and Skrillex, among others. Whether you realize it or not, you’ve heard Zedd before: Clarity has been getting widespread club play, and he is producing Gaga’s upcoming album ARTPOP. Blending house, dubstep, and even remixing the Legend of Zelda, Zedd’s is a set you won’t want to miss.
Passion Pit: Headed by Michael Angelakos, Passion Pit makes heady electro-pop that is at the same time ethereal and urgent. Ever since breaking into the blogosphere with the EP Chunk of Change, the band has captivated listeners with frenetic synthetic symphonies – from the dreamy romanticism of “Sleepyhead” to the hyper-energetic “I’ll Be Alright.” Check out these smart New Yorkers on Sunday when they take the Downtown stage at the Life is Beautiful Festival.
Empire of the Sun: Occupying a tough slot in the lineup across from Sunday’s headliners the Killers, if you’re a fan of extraordinary spectacle you’ll want to catch at least part of Empire of the Sun’s set. Playing extremely catchy and ephemeral electro glam pop, Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore put on a Vegas-worthy show complete with dancers, architectural set pieces, and special effects. Oh, and highly addictive and energetic music of course. If you just can’t tear yourself away from the Killers and you find yourself in Los Angeles for Halloween, you could always enter to win tickets from RabbitsBlack to see Empire of the Sun at the Shrine. Don’t ever say we don’t take care of you.
What do you say, would you sacrifice experiencing the Killers in their home town to see these crazy Aussies? Let us know in the comments, and get your tickets for Life is Beautiful Fest here.
