Austin Psychfest natives, Christian Bland from the band The Black Angels and Lee Blackwell from the bands Night Beats and Night Sun, have assembled a new psychedelic lo-fi rock group called The UFO Club. Their debut self-titled album has received some attention from a few respected music magazines such as Psychedelic Baby.
The album features a lot of original tracks and also a few well-placed covers such as their rendition of Bo Diddley’s “Hey Bo Diddley,” The Ronnettes’ “ Be My Baby,” and their own rendition of The Seeds’, “ Up in Her Room.’’ Overall, this album kicks ass! It takes everything that we love about 50’s and 60’s music and jams it into one album.
The UFO Club does an amazing job with putting a modern touch on all of their songs while still keeping it very old school. Almost all of their equipment is vintage boutique style equipment that produces warm, fuzzy, and reverbed sounds that just simply sounds amazing! If you like lo-fi classic sounding music, then UFO Club is the band for you.
