Does anyone love their jobs more than Dada Life? The Swedish EDM duo has always brought the party and a sense of humor along with their heavy bass drops. Already well known in the EDM scene for their crazy stage antics, arsenal of inflatable bananas, and champagne showers, Dada Life has announced they will now attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest pillow fight in history! They are celebrating the release of their new single “Born to Rage” which has highlighted their festival performances throughout the summer. On October 26 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago every person attending the Dada Life Compound show will be provided a pillow and a message – “Happy Violence!”
Dada Life’s high energy sets feature Stockholm based DJs/Producers Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom using any weapon in their arsenal — from festival-topping hits like “Kick Out The Epic Motherf*&ker to a seemingly unlimited supply of huge inflatable bananas — to make sure the audience has as much fun as possible. The fun is contagious and it starts with the onstage antics of the two Swedes themselves, who appear to have the most fun of anyone whether its inciting the crowd from atop giant speakers or dousing the front rows with bottles of champagne.
Dada Life debuted its logo of two bananas forming a crest around a bottle of champagne on their 2011 single “White Noise/Red Meat” and have heavily incorporated those symbols into their shows. Reportedly during their 2009 European tour their rider required that the backstage area be stocked with bananas and champagne or the venue would be punished with a tech-house set with all tracks at 188 BPM or below. So these guys take their fun seriously.
Don’t be fooled by all the toys and absurd self-reflexive titles on their tracks (“Do the Dada”, “Feed the Dada”, Unleash the F**king Dada), their sets are much more than just smoke and mirrors. Their festival sets are full of bass heavy club-destroying anthems and pop-leaning electro tracks but their extended DJ sets add in a huge series of hard hitting and pulse pounding house tracks. Dada Life’s 2AM after-party set at The Mid in Chicago was one of the highlights and most talked about performances of 2013’s Lollapalooza replete with flying bananas (inflatable and real), yellow-clad go-go dancers, champagne showers, blinding blasts of smoke, and yes … pillow fights.
Dada Life is always ready for a party, are you? Show up, grab a pillow, and go bananas!
