Standing Shadows will be headlining Home For The Holidays this Saturday at O’Briens on Main St. in Santa Monica. This is your chance to get to know the band before their unique intimate performance. Find out what all the hype is about regarding this Los Angeles based indie-electro-rock band. You are in for a dancing good time of rock n’ roll melodies!
Standing Shadows pulls from influences across the board. Some parts Muse, some parts Radiohead and even a sense of Interpol and Shiny Toy Guns are all mixed together to bring a sound that is familiar, but altogether unique. Standing Shadows has been recording and playing in the Los Angeles scene for years now. They’ve produced a few vinyls, recordings and EPs. None have been more exciting though than the Freakshow EP. Recorded with local legend producer Chris Goss (Queens Of The Stone Age, UNKLE, Duke Spirit, The Cult) at the just-as legendary Rancho de la Luna studio in Joshua Tree, the 3 song EP is the start to something truly special with the band. Using all of the musical instruments, tools, and pots and pans available at the same studio where Queens of the Stone Age have been known to lay down tracks, the latest EP includes some of Standing Shadows best recordings to date. The title track from the EP, “Freakshow”, can be heard here in their latest music video:
A little recommendation, keep an ear out for “One By One” this Saturday- a standout track from the new EP which infuses Chris Goss’ touch with the uptempo sound of Standing Shadows. The lineup consist of David Miltenberger of vocals and guitar, Dan Silver on lead guitar, Mike Greco on bass, and Michael Ascolese on percussion and drums. The band has received rave reviews from the likes of Kevin Bronson and Buzzbands LA. They are slowing releasing the Freakshow EP and this Saturday is your chance to hear the songs before they catch on with everyone else. The band is finishing up a coast to coast US tour, and their set at Home For The Holidays is their FINAL performance of 2011. This is going to be unique, this is going to be special.
Standing Shadows performs at 3:30 PM, this Saturday at Home For The Holidays at O’Briens on Main St. You can RSVP here for the show.
