What better venue is there to showcase two of the finest post-punk bands that Southern California has to offer than the Troubadour in Los Angeles? Okay, that was a rhetorical question. Celebrating their late September album release, Only in Dreams, Dum Dum Girls, with their rockabilly undertones and fast-paced music, offers a performance that will keep you transfixed and wanting more. Songs like ‘I Will Be’ and ‘Jail La La,’ off of their first album I Will Be, are prime examples of the raw power this band exudes.
The band Crocodiles, featuring Dee-Dee’s (lead singer of the Dum Dum Girls) husband, will open the show. Crocodiles are known for their heavily distorted and fuzzy sound that creates a wild atmosphere slightly reminiscent of The Jesus and Mary Chain. You can listen to”Stoned To Death” by Crocodiles here:
These sounds are especially prevalent in their latest 2010 album, Sleep Forever. If you’re looking for a good way to start off the month of October, come out to the Troubadour and catch a rock show that will leave you absolutely breathless.
