Trent Reznor has been playing a few tracks from the upcoming album Hesitation Marks (releasing on September 3rd) live during the recent run of festival performances. We heard “Came Back Haunted” and the new single “Copy of A” live at Lollapalooza- along with a third instrumental track in the middle of the set. Well, here we go again with the free music! Partnering with Amazon, Trent has released the new Nine Inch Nails single “Copy of A” as a free download. Links and insight into the new album after the jump.
We don’t really know what to expect from Hesitation Marks on September 3rd. Quotes from Reznor during interviews lead us to believe this will be a minimalist type of record. We know the production value will be through the roof on the album, but the songs… what are they going to sound like? What will they embody? In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Trent had this to say about the upcoming album:
“I don’t think it’s a gentle record. I do think it’s more subversive in how it gets you. It’s not about everything being at 11 and the pyrotechnics of sound and scare tactics, which I’ve definitely used in the past. But it doesn’t feel like the middle-aged, I’ve-given-up record either.”
Take a listen to “Copy of A” here by downloading it at the link below. September 3rd can’t come fast enough.
