Think Summer is over? Think again my friend! The festival season is still going strong in Orange County, where Jane’s Addiction, the Flaming Lips, Jimmy Eat World, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and many more will be appearing at Doheny Days 2012 this weekend. With a rocking lineup, perfect weather forecast and plenty of tickets still available, now’s the time to grab your shades and some friends and head south for the weekend.
Set in the historic Dana Point Harbor, Doheny Days is an intimate festival that nonetheless pulls major acts. With Jane’s Addiction and The Flaming Lips headlining, not only is this year’s lineup excellent, the price-point is just right – $100 gets you two days of great music by the sea.
Saturday is for the rockers out there – Jane’s Addiction, still supporting The Great Escape Artist (which you can download for free if you follow this link), will be joined on Saturday by Jimmy Eat World, Santigold, and Beats Antique.
Did you hear Kennedy of LA station 98.7 gushing about Delta Spirit this morning? While she talked up their November 8 show at the Wiltern, what she didn’t mention is that the San Diego band will also be appearing this Saturday at Doheny Days, along with Mishka, Seedless, The White Buffalo, and Standing Hawthorne. You can expect some new tunes from Jimmy Eat World, who haven’t played any shows since their special Bleed American tour last year.
On Sunday, after grubbing out on a delicious breakfast burrito from A’s Burgers across from Doheny State Park (trust, you’ll thank us), we’ll be grooving out to the smooth stylings of reggae acts Rebelution and Steel Pulse, along with Anuhea, Milo Greene, Midnight Hour and Jeremiah Red.
In a regrettable scheduling decision, Edward Sharpe will be appearing at the exact same time as the Aggrolites (shame on you Omega Events, shafting an amazing So. Cal band with this move!).
We’re not crying too hard tho, knowing those fearless freaks the Flaming Lips will BLOW OUR MINDS as they close out the weekend’s festivities. Like this: .
Single day tickets are $60, 2 day tickets are $100 and won’t be available at the gates so get em now.
What you’ll be missing at Edward Sharpe:
So don’t miss Beats Antique
And make sure to get there early Saturday for Delta Spirit
And def check out Rebelution
We’ll see you at Doheny Days!
