The Black Angels Premiere New Single “Evil Things”; Announce Spring Tour Dates

Psychadelic rock band The Black Angels are touring their butts off this spring. They’re a can’t-miss at the Austin Psych Fest at the end of April, but if you can’t make it out to the Lonestar State…well…they’re probably playing somewhere closer to you. The Austin, Texas-based foursome are set to release their fourth full-length album Indigo Meadow on April 2nd, recorded with producer John Congleton (David Byrne & St. Vincent, Clinic, Explosions In The Sky). In the meantime, they’re debuting the first single off the album, “Evil Things,” right now! And you can check it out here!  (more…)

Noise Pop 21 Kicks Off Tonight! – Opening Night Party at Rickshaw Stop, featuring Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth

The annual Noise Pop Music Festival in San Francisco is set to kick off tonight! The Opening Night Party for this independent culture expo will be at Rickshaw Stop on Fell Street, featuring Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. Gordon’s new experimental group Body/Head, a collaboration with noise aficionado Bill Nace, is set to headline the kickoff show tonight (I know, calling Gordon’s music experimental at this point is a bit redundant). So head down to Fell Street in a few hours and get ready for a cacophony of experimental noise. These two music/noise revolutionaries will be supported by Horsebladder, Burmese, and Noel von Harmonson. Tickets only available at the door (we recommend showing up early). Primus Announces Spring Tour…in 3D!

Les Claypool and the boys are back! Primus recently announced a spring tour, featuring a 3D-enhanced live musical performance and two sets per evening. This tour is being promoted as a full-on psychedelic experience. Primus teamed with 3D Live from Burbank, CA to create original 3D content for the tour. Audience members will be given 3D glasses in order to fully experience a visual and audio performance like no other. The band broke its 11-year studio hiatus with the release of Green Naugahyde last September, and apparently they haven’t satiated that creative itch just yet (like that’s even possible with these guys. I mean, we’re talking about Les Claypool after all). Follow the jump for full tour dates and more info: (more…)

Live Review: We Are The West @ Make-Out Room SF 2/17

In preparation of the release of their 2nd three song EP in a 4 part album of recordings, We Are The West, an LA based duo of acoustic guitar and stand-up bass, toured up and down California since the turn of 2013. I had chance to get a glimpse of their live show at an unruffled little venue settled in San Francisco’s Mission District called Make-Out Room, and have to say it was a chill and peaceful way to spend a Sunday evening.
