Today at the Whisky-A-Go-Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, the members of Black Sabbath announced their reunion. At the same venue where they played their first show exactly 41 years ago, Sabbath announced their plans to release a new album in 2012 produced by Rick Rubin, with a full world tour to follow. What else can we say, 11-11-11 is turning into quite the music news event! Hit the jump for the video announcement of the reunion.
The last Black Sabbath album with Ozzy Osbourne at the helm was 1978’s Never Say Die!. The whole crew is back together this time, with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Ozzy. Their first show will be Download Festival June 8-10 in Donington Park, England. Wow, looks like Download just got a boost. Are they selling tickets yet? The album is slated for a Fall 2012 release, so we still got awhile until new music hits. For now, check out the video announcing the reunion here. We’ll have more info as it comes in. The last time we saw Black Sabbath was at 2005’s Ozzfest at Shoreline Amphitheater. We thought it might be the last time we would ever see them, but on 11-11-11 Sabbath is back!
