Arcade Fire Release New Single & Interactive Video

Arcade Fire have leaked the first single from Reflektor, the highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s 2010 The Suburbs. If the title track is any indication, Arcade Fire’s fourth full-length release will be a bit less brooding art rock and a bit more DFA neu-disco. This should come as no surprise to devout followers of the band, as legendary James Murphy helped record and produce the track in DFA’s studio. True to form, the band simultaneously released a media-transcendent, audience-interactive reflective music “video” for “Reflektor”. (more…)

Festival Preview: Outside Lands Music Festival @ Golden Gate Park SF 8/12-8/14

Here we go folks, the 4th annual Outside Lands Art, Food, and Music Festival is fully booked, prepped, greened, and ready to launch into outer space next weekend from historic Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. It will feature 3 full days (Fri-Sun) of live musical performances from a wide array of genres and generations beginning at 12 noon each of the 3 days and ending late into the night. Expected to pull in 40-50,000 people from all over the world, the concert bill has a few tricks for every taste, 4 performance stages, a DJ dome, a Wine Lands booth that will feature great locally produced California wines, plenty of food represented by local eateries, and a whole shit-ton of other exhibits, games, booths, and party for everybody to get down with! Coachella line-up announced. Big acts, few surprises.

The Coachella line-up was officially released late last night.  Waiting for the announcement has become over the years part of the tradition and buzz of Coachella itself.  Well, it’s finally here and we don’t have to guess our spread rumors about the bands playing this year.  The line-up is heavy at the top with Kings of Leon, Kanye West and Arcade Fire all being huge touring acts.  From there we are greeted with a mix of local bands, Coachella regulars and Indie projects.  We would have liked to see one of those huge surprise headliners (Paul McCartney, Ozzy with Slash, Red Hot Chili Peppers- where are you guys?) and we still might with a late addition, but it doesn’t look too good for now.  (more…)
