Coachella 2011: 3 days of sunshine in review

After a 364 day countdown it was finally time for Coachella 2011! The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is a Southern California tradition, where droves of music lovers drive out to the Polo Grounds in Indio, California for 3 days of music, dancing, partying and lots of sunshine!

This year wristbands sold out after only 3 weeks, a shock to many annual Coachellites who could purchase tickets online for last year’s festival up to 2 weeks before the event. (more…)

SXSW 2011: Biggest Surprise, Biggest Disappointment

South By Southwest 2011 is in the books, and March is almost over.  As SXSW becomes a memory, there are two shows we can’t get out of our mind.  Keep in mind, each show cost between $10 and $15 to get into, and each venue was smaller than The Troubadour in West Hollywood.  Alright, we won’t keep you waiting.  Find out who our picks for Biggest Surprise and Biggest Disappointment of SXSW 2011 are after the jump. Live Review: Valient Thorr @ Barbarella 3/18 (SXSW)

SXSW is not a typical festival. There are no open fields, no gigantic stages, and honestly fewer huge acts. Well, there are huge stages and huge acts, but that’s not what the true SXSW goers are there for. What makes it so special is its celebration of small bands, new bands, and the music lifestyle. Live Review: Night Horse @ The Echo 1/20

Alright, it’s taken us awhile to get this review up, but trust me when I say it will be worth the wait.  Night Horse might not be a name that you are familiar with, but you should be and will be.  Here is the simple reason why: Night Horse is one of the most genuine local rock & roll outfits you can see in Los Angeles and if you are not at their next show you are simply missing out!  Night Horse released their second full length album this past fall with Perdition Hymns.  The album is pure rock & roll spirits with a southern-blues-rock attitude that moves fast and gets you dancing.  The same description can be applied perfectly to their live shows.  (more…)

Live Review: A Perfect Circle @ The Avalon 11/9

It has been 6 years since A Perfect Circle performed on stage together.  During those 6 years, some of the more regular members of this modern day super group have went on to other projects.  Still though, the core of A Perfect Circle has remained in tact, and their performance on Tuesday showed they haven’t missed a step along the way.  Before we get to the actual concert review, we were lucky enough to score a few of the very special VIP Wine Tasting and Meet & Greet tickets for the show.  A Perfect Circle (APC) has never had a meet & greet for fans before, so we jumped on the opportunity right away.  Well, I guess there is a reason why APC has never done a meet & greet all these years.  (more…)
