Social Distortion premiere “Machine Gun Blues” at red carpet event

It was a surreal feeling to see Mike Ness and the members of Social Distortion on the red carpet last night next to the Music Box at Henry Fonda in Hollywood.  As Social D faithful lined the street in front of one of Los Angeles most historic music venues, Mike and the boys took some time with press and photographers on the red carpet.  Going into the event we couldn’t quite wrap our heads around why the punk rock icons were hosting such a formal event in conjunction with their record label Epitaph for the release of the Machine Gun Blues short film, but after talking with Mike Ness it all made sense- this was about family. Coachella 2011: 3 days of sunshine in review

After a 364 day countdown it was finally time for Coachella 2011! The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is a Southern California tradition, where droves of music lovers drive out to the Polo Grounds in Indio, California for 3 days of music, dancing, partying and lots of sunshine!

This year wristbands sold out after only 3 weeks, a shock to many annual Coachellites who could purchase tickets online for last year’s festival up to 2 weeks before the event. (more…)

Show Alert: Dax Riggs @ The Echo 6/10 & 11

You have probably heard us talk about Dax Riggs on these pages- the once frontman of the Louisiana metal band Acid Bath (also worth checking out for you heavier metal heads).  Well Dax Riggs is solo now, and we at Rabbits Black think he’s that much better for it.  Dax has really let his creative styles flow on his first two solo albums under the Dax Riggs moniker.  (more…)

Live Review: Night Horse @ The Echo 1/20

Alright, it’s taken us awhile to get this review up, but trust me when I say it will be worth the wait.  Night Horse might not be a name that you are familiar with, but you should be and will be.  Here is the simple reason why: Night Horse is one of the most genuine local rock & roll outfits you can see in Los Angeles and if you are not at their next show you are simply missing out!  Night Horse released their second full length album this past fall with Perdition Hymns.  The album is pure rock & roll spirits with a southern-blues-rock attitude that moves fast and gets you dancing.  The same description can be applied perfectly to their live shows.  (more…)

Coachella line-up announced. Big acts, few surprises.

The Coachella line-up was officially released late last night.  Waiting for the announcement has become over the years part of the tradition and buzz of Coachella itself.  Well, it’s finally here and we don’t have to guess our spread rumors about the bands playing this year.  The line-up is heavy at the top with Kings of Leon, Kanye West and Arcade Fire all being huge touring acts.  From there we are greeted with a mix of local bands, Coachella regulars and Indie projects.  We would have liked to see one of those huge surprise headliners (Paul McCartney, Ozzy with Slash, Red Hot Chili Peppers- where are you guys?) and we still might with a late addition, but it doesn’t look too good for now.  (more…)

Live Review: A Perfect Circle @ The Avalon 11/9

It has been 6 years since A Perfect Circle performed on stage together.  During those 6 years, some of the more regular members of this modern day super group have went on to other projects.  Still though, the core of A Perfect Circle has remained in tact, and their performance on Tuesday showed they haven’t missed a step along the way.  Before we get to the actual concert review, we were lucky enough to score a few of the very special VIP Wine Tasting and Meet & Greet tickets for the show.  A Perfect Circle (APC) has never had a meet & greet for fans before, so we jumped on the opportunity right away.  Well, I guess there is a reason why APC has never done a meet & greet all these years.  (more…)
