For my first-ever concert at the Fox Theater in downtown Oakland (save the judgment, I’m still new to the Bay area), I had the good fortune of seeing not one, but two of the biggest house-music artists known to the animal kingdom, back to back. That would be the “Hounds Read more…

NIN steals the show at Outside Lands
Seeing Nine Inch Nails just about put me six feet under.
The No. 1 band on my bucket list delivered Saturday night, with music mastermind Trent Reznor engulfed by moving backdrops, his dark silhouette hovering over 65,000 people in Golden GatePark during the sixth annual Outside Lands music festival.
(Guest post by Alex Pacheco.) On Friday, August 16 Electro Producer Alex Botwin, better known for his stage name Paper Diamond, will be playing San Francisco’s 1015 Folsom Nightclub along with a special live performance by rapper Roach Gigz. Coming off a successful run of summer festival appearances that included a debut at Bonnaroo, The Governors Ball, as well as HARD Summer Fest a little over a week ago in Los Angeles, the Colorado-based musician has decided to forego taking a break from the road before embarking on a fall tour hitting 31 cities across North America with dubstep juggernaut Zeds Dead. With three rooms of music that will feature a total of eight artists, this event will no doubt satisfy the bass-heavy musical palates of any hip hop or EDM fan. And of course, the crown jewel will be the eclectically styled beats of Paper Diamond himself, which will be sure to include many tracks off his brand new EP, Paragon. Make sure not to miss it – check out the event details and ticket links below!
Now in it’s fourth year, the Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival is coming to the Bay Area and Los Angeles in September- stopping by Shoreline in Mountain View and then the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine two days later. This year the one-day festival boasts it’s most impressive lineup yet. Featuring two stages at most of the tour’s stops, the Main Stage is being graced by alternative rock legends Jane’s Addiction and Alice In Chains. Over on the Ernie Ball stage, you can catch Danko Jones and also Duff McKagan’s new band of the moment Walking Papers. Eight other bands round-out the festival that gets started in the early afternoon for one day of rock and roll. We’re going for Jane’s of course, but there’s something there for almost everyone. Check out the full details and ticket links on both shows! (more…)
